*Strap it on. Newly updated Garda Wrist Strap Giveaway and brand new Ultralite strap!

P1120958

Hi all.  Firstly, let me say thank you to everyone who has purchased my hand built wrist straps over the last 6 months.  I’ve continued to tinker with the design, combined with feedback I’ve eliminated the need to decide between a standard or large size instead opting for one singular size that now incorporates a cinch ring.  The original 10mm Black and 8mm Green continue, and I’ve added another 8mm in Blue as well as the new 6mm Red.

Come on in to see more, and find out how to enter to win a free Garda Wrist Strap!

“Fenton in the Morning Dew” by Graham Gibson (visit Graham HERE)

Welcome to our 6th monthly Flickr Photo Blog Challenge.  For those new to the family, in collaboration with Heather and Mathieu from MirrorLessons, we have facilitated a monthly, photographer driven challenge where the winner each month gets to choose the next theme.  The theme this month, as chosen by last month’s winner Graham, is “Animals.”  Interpret that however you would like, use whichever gear you would like to capture an image with, and submit that image to the theme threads in both the TRP Flickr Group thread and the Mirrorlessons Flickr Group thread.

Submissions will be accepted until Sunday, August 31st at which time Heather, Mat and myself will choose our three favorites and put them up for a vote.

This being our 6th challenge, we will be taking all 6 monthly winners (this current cycle included) and putting them up against each other for a Champion of Champions giveaway with the image receiving the most votes getting something sent to them on behalf of myself, Heather and Mat for all the participation and inspiration we’ve seen generated through these last 6 months.

So get to it!  Everyone is invited to submit an image to both flickr groups with the winner showcased on both this site and Mirrorlessons as well.

Happy shooting everyone,

t

*Congratulations to Graham Gibson for winning our July Flickr Photo Blog Challenge, Long Exposure!

“Highway of Lights” by Graham Gibson

Congratulations to Graham in what ended up as our tightest vote yet, edging out tvhow and Samuel Dorado by a combined 4 total votes between the vote here and the vote over on Mirrorlessons (click here to visit Heather and Mat).

All three images chosen this month were beautiful.  Samuel’s had a dark and uncertain serenity speaking to the unknowns associated with isolation in the vast expanses of the open ocean at night making for both a calming and unnerving aesthetic.  tvhow balanced various elements in ambient nighttime landscape, gelled flash and hand spun, flame laden steel wool in a composition all bisected by a mirroring of the composition in reflection.  Graham’s image of the Bay Bridge, with traffic fleeing the perspective of the viewer and traveling to an etherial yet gothic cityscape balanced and contrasted tones and space in the warm glow of traffic leading us to a cool horizon through and over the dark sea below.

Great shots all, and thank you to everyone who submitted their shots as well.  Each month the bar continues to be pushed, and hopefully this helps to motivate us all in upping our game.

While we wait to hear back from Graham on his decision for the theme for this month’s challenge, visit Graham on Flickr HERE.  Graham has been entered into our 6 month giveaway which will take place after this month’s challenge.

To enter into this month’s or any future month’s challenges, all one needs to do is to join the TRP Group HERE and the Mirrorlessons Group HERE, and submit your image to the discussion thread for the corresponding month as they’re posted.

Check back in to see what the future holds, or find me on Facebook and Twitter to get alerts as they are posted.

Thanks again to all and happy shooting,

Tyson

Voting is closed, even though I can’t disable the poll.  Totals as of Wednesday morning are:

Highway of Lights: 18

Voting will run through August 5th, so vote for your favorite both here and over on Mirrorlessons.  The winner will get to choose our theme for August’s challenge and we begin the process again!  Each month’s winner will also be entered into our 6 month giveaway where we will take the winners from our first 6 months worth of challenges and vote on our overall favorite, so keep an eye out for your chance to win future challenges.

Thanks to Heather and Mat from Mirrorlessons and everyone who has continued to provide us with beautiful, inspirational imagery and stay posted for next month’s challenge!  Our photography family continues to grow with each month, and that my friends is awesome.  Keep being inspired and push that creativity.

Happy shooting,
