Conversations on two levels

“Conversations on two levels” by Sami Paju (visit, see more and say hi to Sami HERE)

Congratulations to Sami!  His image, “Conversations on two levels” is our winner for the Street challenge.  Sami will now get to choose our theme for this month so stay tuned.  In the mean time, drop by and visit Sami on Flickr HERE to congratulate him.  Sami is not also entered into our semi-annual champions challenge where 6 monthly winners will vie for your vote with the winner taking home some free, sweet stuff.

Thanks as always to Heather and Mat from Mirrorlessons.  We’ve been jointly putting on these monthly challenges and I love the amount of wonderful photography it has helped expose us all to. Our hope is that it also provides a fun way to motivate us to shoot subjects or concepts we may not have thought to shoot.  A fun way to help spur a bit of creative energy as it were.

If you’ve not yet participated in one of these challenges, or just need a reminder as to where to submit your images, visit our Flickr groups.  Each month we have a group thread in each of our Flickr groups where you can submit your images for consideration.  It’s always free, and has proven to be a great way to network with many amazing folks and get your work out to a larger, online audience.

Stay tuned and happy shooting!

*Time to vote! Choose the Champion

challenge6month

Hello and welcome to our first, semi-annual giveaway vote, where you can choose who has provided us with the best overall image from our first 6 monthly challenges, is granted our undying adoration and given some free stuff as well.  Over the last 6 months, Heather, Mat and I have coordinated a monthly, dual blog challenge here and on Heather and Mat’s site Mirrorlessons where a theme is presented at the beginning of each month.  Anyone can submit an image into our theme specific Flickr group discussion threads for consideration.  At the end of the month, Heather, Mat and I choose an image that we each feel best exemplifies that theme and open it up for a vote.  The winner of that vote then gets to choose the next theme, and we begin again.  It has been a fun way to get to know and interact with many more photographers here and through Flickr, hopefully also translating into inspiration for many of us.  When we started this, we’d merely hoped that we could find a way to further build a community while gaining and hopefully providing some fun inspiration as a way to share our images with a wider audience.  It has been working and we’re thrilled with the connections made and beautiful imagery we’ve seen presented through these monthly challenges.

This brings us to our first giveaway vote!  The fine folks at Topaz Labs, creators of many very awesome software programs and plugins, have offered a free program of the winners choice.  I will also be building a custom Garda Wrist Strap for said winner with a few different color choices, not quite yet available for purchase and the title of our first, Semi-Annual Challenge Champion.

Let the vote commence!  Please come in and vote for your favorite image.

Voting is closed, even though I can’t disable the poll.  Totals as of Wednesday morning are:

Highway of Lights: 18

Fire and Ice: 10

Just Right: 8

which sees Graham edge out tvhow by one solitary vote and Sam by 3 votes!!!  This is the closest result we’ve yet had.  Great shots everyone!

Voting will run through August 5th, so vote for your favorite both here and over on Mirrorlessons.  The winner will get to choose our theme for August’s challenge and we begin the process again!  Each month’s winner will also be entered into our 6 month giveaway where we will take the winners from our first 6 months worth of challenges and vote on our overall favorite, so keep an eye out for your chance to win future challenges.

Thanks to Heather and Mat from Mirrorlessons and everyone who has continued to provide us with beautiful, inspirational imagery and stay posted for next month’s challenge!  Our photography family continues to grow with each month, and that my friends is awesome.  Keep being inspired and push that creativity.

Happy shooting,

Tyson
