We’re well into our second year of the Monthly Flickr Photo Blog Challenge, co-hosted by me here, and my good friends Heather and Mat atMirrorlessons. We just crowned our second semi-annual winner and showeredGiorgio Lumaconi with free stuff. If you’d like a chance to win some free software, and photography gear, all you need to do is to stay tuned and submit your best image to our monthly theme threads whose themes are chosen by our monthly winners. This month’s winner will be one of the following three images. Please vote for your favorite from March’s theme, “Man vs. Nature” below and over atMirrorlessonsas well!
The vote stays open through the 5th of April, and at that time we’ll tally the votes to declare our winner. The winner then gets to choose the theme for our April challenge and is entered into our next semi-annual giveaway vote where our 6 monthly winners duke it out.
Thanks to everyone that has submitted and topommes.fritz123for choosing this month’s theme. Thank you to Heather and Mat for the continued collaboration and here’s to getting out and shooting.

Welcome to our 12th monthly Flickr Photo Blog Challenge. This month’s theme marks our one year anniversary and the end of our second semi-annual chunk of winners with this month’s theme providing our winner the last spot in our semi-annual giveaway. It’s easy. All you have to do is submit your image to our themed Flickr threads and at the end of the month, Heather, Mat and I will choose our three favorites from the submissions which will then be showcased on the site here, and on Mat and Heather’s site, Mirrorlessons. The vote runs for 5 days at which point, the winner tallying the most total votes between the two polls will get to choose next month’s theme, and will join our 5 previous monthly winners in our champion’s vote where the winner will receive gifts aplenty. Last time, our winner Billyburgreceived a custom built handstrap and a Topaz plugin of his choice. This time around should offer even more.
The rules are simple.
Submit an image taken by you, based on your interpretation of our theme, in this case “architecture” into our flickr theme threads:
Thank you to our November winner Angga for the new theme: “Gadgets”
As is fun with our monthly themes, they are open for interpretation. There are no rules, other than to be considered for our selections, you must submit your image to one of (good) or both (better) our themed flickr group threads below. Over the last 10 months, Heather and Mat from Mirrorlessons, and myself here have collaborated to create a fun way to both motivate our selves as well as help provide a platform for a bit more exposure by way of showcasing our favorites on both of our websites. At the end of the month, Heather, Mat and I each choose our favorite image from the flickr threads that we feel best represents the theme and post them on both of our sites along with a vote.
The vote is open for 5 days after which we tally the two sites polls and declare the winner. The winner of the month gets to choose the next theme and the process begins again. Each month’s winner is also entered into our semi-annual champions vote where we get to vote on the 6 monthly winners to determine our favorite. That winner is showcased on both my site as well as Mirrorlessons while also winning software, handmade wrist straps and who knows what else.
So, submit your image to our Flickr group theme threads below and let the challenge begin!
Time to vote! Our theme this month is “minimalism” and we had a ton of wonderful submissions on flickr this month. Peruse and vote for your favorite below, and don’t forget to also vote on Mirrorlessons HERE.
These monthly themes are a fun way to engage and interact with the large community through this site, my friends Heather and Mat’s site and the ever growing family on flickr. Stay tuned for next month’s theme with winners each month entered in to a semi annual vote to win free software and gear!
Thanks to everyone who submitted this month and I look forward to seeing what comes this next month! Thanks to Mat and Heather for the continued networking and effort. I love seeing how this has continued to grow each month and always enjoy seeing the differences in the great many talented eyes providing inspirational imagery. Keep on keepin’ on everyone, and happy holidays.
Visual Mimimalism: Simplistic use of shape and form to convey an idea, emotion or concept often employing negative space or incomplete context.
Thank you to our October winner Sami for the new theme: “Minimalism”
As is fun with our monthly themes, they are open for interpretation. There are no rules, other than to be considered for our selections, you must submit your image to one of (good) or both (better) our themed flickr group threads below. Over the last 9 months, Heather and Mat from Mirrorlessons, and myself here have collaborated to create a fun way to both motivate our selves as well as help provide a platform for a bit more exposure by way of showcasing our favorites on both of our websites. At the end of the month, Heather, Mat and I each choose our favorite image from the flickr threads and post them on both of our sites along with a vote.
All of our readers get the final say in the overall winner for the month, with that winner being showcased and getting to choose the theme for the next month, as well as being entered into our semi-annual giveaway where we take the 6 monthly winners and open up a vote for the supreme champion. Our last winner billyburg took home a Topaz plugin of his choice and a custom built camera wrist strap. I’m working on some fun stuff, so I’m hoping we’re able to offer even more this time around. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s a great way to interact with some awesome folks and great photographers while getting your images out there.
Submit your Minimalistic images to these Flickr threads:
Our first giveaway winner has been decided by you guys. With a combined effort between my site and Heather and Mat’s site Mirrorlessons (visit them HERE), billyburg has compiled the most votes, and is your first semi annual Flickr Photo Blog Challenge Winner.
Congratulations billyburg, and thank you to everyone who voted, and submitted over the last six months.
Billyburg has won a custom built T&T Garda wrist strap (see more HERE) as well as a Topaz Plugin of his choice! We hope to continue to build our community through these fun, free monthly challenges, and if you’ve not yet submitted, you have a chance monthly. The winner of each month’s challenge gets to choose the theme for the next month while getting exposure both here and on Heather and Mat’s site.
Welcome to our 6th monthly Flickr Photo Blog Challenge. For those new to the family, in collaboration with Heather and Mathieu from MirrorLessons, we have facilitated a monthly, photographer driven challenge where the winner each month gets to choose the next theme. The theme this month, as chosen by last month’s winner Graham, is “Animals.” Interpret that however you would like, use whichever gear you would like to capture an image with, and submit that image to the theme threads in both the TRP Flickr Group thread and the Mirrorlessons Flickr Group thread.
Submissions will be accepted until Sunday, August 31st at which time Heather, Mat and myself will choose our three favorites and put them up for a vote.
This being our 6th challenge, we will be taking all 6 monthly winners (this current cycle included) and putting them up against each other for a Champion of Champions giveaway with the image receiving the most votes getting something sent to them on behalf of myself, Heather and Mat for all the participation and inspiration we’ve seen generated through these last 6 months.
So get to it! Everyone is invited to submit an image to both flickr groups with the winner showcased on both this site and Mirrorlessons as well.
