GoPro users rejoice!  Lensbaby has just launched a campaign to release their brand new 180+ degree circular fisheye lens for GoPro action cameras.  It looks like it will be a great lens for GoPro system users who may want that wider angle that a circular fisheye produces for underwater video, general tomfoolery or to produce some cool, surreal drone footage.  Jump on the train to be one of the first pledgers to get it for only $69.

See the release from Lensbaby below:

GoPro® cameras are amazing. The fixed lens however can be limiting. Lensbaby’s new Circular 180+ lens, packed with 185 degrees of AWESOME, will make you want to pull that GoPro® out and see your adventures like you’ve never seen before.

Lensbaby’s Circular 180+ lens creates fully circle fisheye videos and images with huge depth of field letting you capture the soul of your adventures with a fully immersive field of view. Attaching to the current waterproof housing on GoPro® Hero cameras, the Circular 180+ captures a 185 degree window on the world, wider than the human eye can see with unprecedented depth of field – subjects nearly touching the front of the lens are sharp along with everything else in the image.

With its 185 degree field of view, intense depth, tack sharp edge-to-edge focus plus its small, rugged design this lens will go anywhere you want to go. Back in now on Kickstarter to get your lens in time for summer shooting: http://lensba.by/kickstarter_circular180

I have no stake to claim here, no money on the table, no skin in the game.  Just wanting to spread the Lensbaby gospel because I like the company and the folks that work there.  They’re awesome.  Click the link above to see sample footage and hear from Craig, the co-founder of Lensbaby as he explains what led to them developing this lens.

Happy shooting,

Tyson

*Super deal on fisheye and Topaz Re-Style on sale for 4 more days!

833415

A couple super deals have popped up.  Please excuse the quick break from the normally scheduled programing…  For my fellow micro 4/3 shooters, the above lens is temporarily on sale, and for all my fellow post processing enthusiasts, Topaz Re-Style is 50% off for just 4 more days.

The Bower (Rokinon/Samyang/whoever else they sell this lens under) micro 4/3, 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye, is now on sale for $199 at B&H HERE (price is now fluctuating between $200-250 or so), and also includes the 4% reward and Free Shipping!  If you’ve been on the fence, this is an amazing deal on a great lens (Normally about $300).  You can read my opinions on the Rokinon version (same lens) HERE.  Oddly, it is only the Bower version that is on sale, but it is the same lens as the Rokinon that I own, use and love.

Also, Topaz Re-Style is about to wrap up it’s introductory sale this Saturday, at which point it will go up to “full” price ($59.99).  Right now, through Saturday, you can get Re-Style for 50% off HERE for $29.99 when using the code “restyleit”, enter the discount code at checkout.  I recently reviewed Re-Style HERE. Also, you can get the $30 discount off of the full collection of Topaz plugins by using that same “restyleit” discount code.

Thank you, happy shooting and carry on…

Cheers,

Tyson

*Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye, get wide.

In the world of photography, a fisheye lens to me is kind of like a purse is to my wife.  Follow me for a second here.  You only use it on certain occasions and for certain purposes, with certain outfits if you will.  For the other times, you have a plethora of other purses to accessorize to your need.  For the times that you need that one, zany purse, the only one that goes with that crazy belt, then the fisheye is the ticket.  Since I’ve become re-enamored with photography, I have stopped asking about and wondering why my wife has as many purses as she does (and constantly wants more…sounds kinda familiar right?)  Don’t worry, I’m not turning this into a fashion blog, c’mon in and I’ll show you some shots of and from the stellar Rokinon 7.5mm fisheye lens.

*Lensbaby Composer Pro for MILC Cameras, a system within a system.

April 2nd, 2012 – Lensbaby has announced it’s second MILC dedicated product which now gives the MILC (Mirror-less Interchangeable Lens Compact) systems, micro 4/3, NEX, and NX users access to every optic and add on in the Lensbaby system.  Where the Tilt Transformer  for Micro 4/3 and NEX cameras allowed for the Composer Front to be used, it was limited to the Lensbaby optics that were compatible.  Now, the Sweet 35, Fisheye, Edge 80, Macro Converters and all standard optic swap inserts are entirely compatible!  It’s like immediately gaining access to a bunch of new lenses for these young systems clamoring for more affordable and diverse options.  More after the jump…

*Lensbaby Scout!

My blog may seem as if I’ve become nothing but a Lensbaby honk of late.  Let me say, I’ve been lucky enough to have made friends with the fine folks at Lensbaby.  That, and they’re my local, hometown lens manufacturer right here in Portland.  I am a softy when it comes to supporting the local folks, so in a word, yes, I like seeing a local, forward thinking optical company do well.  They are also very cool people making very unique, affordable optics, and they asked me if I would play around with this new lens.  I love all things photography, so I was excited to get my hands on yet another brand new Lensbaby product to play around with.  As if the recently released Tilt Transformer wasn’t enough, Lensbaby has developed the Scout to further diversify their optical offerings.  More after the jump…
